3D hydraulic return
Custom design for each pool
Water returning to the pool after treatment fulfils two purposes in the inBlue system. First and most important, it has to accelerate water to obtain the perfect rotating current maximizing shear on the pool floor, where particles are collected and figuratively shoveled direct up and in to the gutter. For each pool, depending on cross section dimensions and flow, it has to be custom designed to achieve its task with almost no head loss. Secondly chlorine has to be well distributed as with traditional bottom returns.

Side gutter
An inBlue specialty
Side gutters has to be designed the right way to ensure optimum functionality. The side gutter has to be able to effectively collect skim cells over the entire pool length. It has to be with as little noise as possible and be effectively separated from the general walking areas cleaned by soap. We will dimension and design the perfect gutter for your pool project.

Center lane turbulent zone
Upwelling water area
At the center lane water collide coming from both sides. Water is upwelling spreading again on the surface that is effectively swiped in one quick movement. Skin cells will at first be located on the pool surface until they start settling towards the pool floor. So no matter if skin cells and other particles is on the pool floor or on the surface, they will be quickly transported to filtration. Sand and other heavy dirt that can’t be transported by the current has to be mechanically removed by hand or by an automatic pool cleaner from the center lane. Current is not strong enough to have effect on competition swimmers.

Sand or D.E. filter
The world’s best sand filter.
Most of the water can be returned direct to the pool from the ballast tank. To ensure that ultra small particles don’t accumulate over time, we use the Captura sand filter and flocculation in part flow operation. We will dimension the part flow for each project based on mathematical models. The Captura filter is an automatic and open designed sand filter that operates under vacuum. Part of this process is the intelli-flock system which is another unique design by inBlue, optimized through external science projects. The Captura filter is water saving and achieves a cleaner sand bed after backwash than any other filter. It back flushes without pressure, and sludge is effectively removed by a long outside gutter.

Gas stripper
Unique system by inBlue.
The gas stripper was invented by inBlue and installed in our first system, and many after that. Our R&D realized that most of the dangerous chlorine by-products like trichloramine and chloroform is gasses that can be stripped out. Several internal and external science project has led to the current optimized inBlue gas stripper. It works in counter current operation with air.

Balance tank
The balance tank is now clean!
All pool operators know that balance tanks has to be cleaned regularly. Skin cells will settle and dissolve constantly in traditional balance tanks. After a while so much is going on inside the balance tank that a thick slimy layer influence water quality to an extent that requires action. System is then closed, tank opened and cleaned. In an inBlue system particles will never reach the balance tank effectively taking care of that problem. If you want ultra low operating costs ask inBlue about the inBlue eco-tank concept.

Drum Filter
With inBlue SUB5 screen
The drum filter is installed direct after the gutter to catch skin cells and other particles before the balance tank, pumps and other handling that causes dissolving. It is not using any energy under filtration, only during flush. A flush takes around 10 seconds, the interval between flushes is automatic based on bather load, i.e. the water level rise inside the drum due to clogging. The filter operates on gravity with head around 0,3meter.

Quick circulation system
The super energy saver pump.
Due to the effective inBlue Sub 5 screen in the drumfilter, most of the water can be directly returned to the pool, only flowing through the UV that has negligible influence on pumping energy demand. Total head from the pool and through gutter, drumfilter, balance tank, UV, tubes and 3D returns often is below one meter! No other technology on the marked achieves such energy efficiency.

UV system
Also for Crypto and Guardia removal
InBlue systems is equipped with the Ultraaqua Multi Ray UV for nitrogenous combined chlorine photo oxidation and Crypto/Guardia disinfection. Crypto and Guardia are chlorine resistant organisms but they are super sensitive to UV-C light. With inBlue UV you will get negligible combined chlorine levels and at the same time excellent protection against Crypto and Guardia. Around 80% of energy used is converted to heat, contributing general water heating.

Fresh air intake
One way or the other.
Air intake most often is designed to ensuring condensation free windows and/or thermal comfort for bathing guests. In the inBlue system they also are part of pool surface ventilation, removing heavy by-products from the surface. At inBlue we work with ventilation firms to ensure the best solution in each case. Often roof propeller ventilators is the best approach or as on this drawing pumping in fresh air horizontally from both sides of the pool. Even more than one fresh air intake approach has proves right. Building design highly influence best ventilation approach.

The danger zone
Right were our noses are during swimming
Chlorine by-products form in the filter system or in the water where chlorine and human remains are present. Some by-products form directly in the skin, and others during break down of sweat, urine, hair or skin cells. By-products in the pool can be either transported to water treatment or leave the water through the water surface. In traditional ventilation design a goal is to keep the water as quiet as possible on the water surface to avoid evaporation. That result in extreme elevated by-product concentrations on the surface, exact where our noses are during swimming. InBlue ventilates the surface for your health and comfort.

Suction in swimmers nose height
Suction can be done in several ways, dependent on building design. Many different solutions has been designed in cooperation with ventilation companies. At inBlue we are happy to share our knowledge with new customers. The important part is that it works optimal in terms of cathing by-product rich surface air and has no negative influence on thermal comfort for guests. Done correct you will not believe the quality of indoor air.

Technology is always evolving. The inBlue solution is a game-changing development taking pool water treatment a step up technology-wise and into the non-chlorine by-product age. Every step in the process is necessary to achieve perfect blue and healthy water to swim in. As an added benefit the improved treatment process is extremely energy and water saving.
